
Vernon Richardson, Distinguished Professor of accounting, joined the Community Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Technological innovation Innovation Alliance Doing work Team.
Vernon Richardson, Distinguished Professor of accounting and the W. Glezen Chair in the Sam M. Walton Faculty of Company, has been picked to provide in the Community Business Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Technologies Innovation Alliance Doing the job Team.
“The PCAOB is a single of the most influential regulatory groups in accounting, the two domestically and internationally,” stated Gary F. Peters, chair of the William Dillard Section of Accounting and holder of the S. Robson Walton Endowed Professorship of Accounting. “Vern’s appointment demonstrates his outstanding standing in the subject and our ongoing contributions to the region of accounting analytics.”
The PCAOB is a nonprofit proven by Congress to “oversee the audits of community providers … to safeguard traders and even further the public fascination in the preparation of insightful, accurate and impartial audit reviews. It also oversees the audits of brokers and sellers registered with the SEC, which include compliance stories submitted pursuant to federal securities laws.”
As an advisory committee to the PCAOB, the Technological know-how Innovation Alliance Performing Team is an oversight group composed of exterior experts. It will look at emerging technologies together with these applied by monetary statement preparers and auditors. The team will:

- Suggest the PCAOB board on rising technologies used by auditors and preparers, and
- Make recommendations to the board relating to oversight systems addressing these technologies.


In shorter, the group will analyze the technological know-how that public companies use and, in performing so, support to guard stockholders and the integrity of audits.
Richardson’s training focuses on details analytics, economic accounting and money statement analysis. He has co-authored four McGraw Hill textbooks, including Accounting Information Systems, Knowledge Analytics for Accounting, Introduction to Info Analytics for Accounting and Introduction to Enterprise Analytics. He has held positions as editor or affiliate editor at Accounting Overview, Accounting Horizons, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Details Methods and the Intercontinental Journal of Accounting Data Units.
Richardson acquired his bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting and an M.B.A. from Brigham Youthful University. He earned a Ph.D. in accounting from the College of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
